I came from a high school baseball team and it was great to see the kids and parents cheering both teams on. The rivalry wasn’t so intense that they weren’t going to cheer for great hits and good catches and plays. I like that about sports. Competitive but fair.
Networking and building quality relationships is a place where you want to surround yourself with people who can make you better and who you can make better.
I recently hosted an event with 20 speakers all working on improving and delivering segments of their keynote to gain additional speaker footage in front of a live audience. It was lovely to see each speaker cheering each other on. Clapping and giving feedback and supporting each others goals. Your network, if it’s an ALLStar network will be filled with quality people who want you to get better.
If you’re networking and you want to make new relationships consider how you can add value to another person. This could be making a connection for them or sending them an article on a topic that they are interested in. Building a connection and adding value is a way to demonstrate that you are involved in the relationship for the long term.
At this event with all the speakers, we also had vendor partners and guests and I am so appreciative of everyone who showed up at The Glass House MN, a new event venue in Minneapolis.
Networking is an intentional skill. The more you surround yourself with people who will cheer you on the more you will see your own business and personal life thrive surrounded by people who want you to win at your goals.
